Africa Fashion Week Nigeria 2024 – A Grand Celebration of African Culture and Creativity

The 10th edition of Africa Fashion Week Nigeria (AFWN) 2024 was nothing short of spectacular—a breathtaking fusion of African culture, creativity, and innovation that captivated Lagos and the world. Proudly headlined by Sterling Bank, this year’s celebration was a milestone, bringing together the Ooni of Ife, Yeye Oodua of Ile-Ife, the Former First Lady of Ekiti State, and some of the biggest names in fashion and entertainment. It was an unforgettable tribute to the beauty, power, and soul of African fashion, making it one of the most memorable editions in AFWN history.

With vibrant colors, traditional artistry, and cutting-edge designs, Africa Fashion Week Nigeria once again solidified its position as a premier fashion platform on the continent, offering a perfect blend of culture, heritage, and innovation.

The event began with the Africa Fashion Week Nigeria Summit at the Lagos Oriental Hotel. Esteemed speakers such as Ayoola Ayinde (CEO, Woodhall Capital), Mrs. Toke Benson (Lagos State Commissioner for Tourism, Arts, and Culture), costume designer Yolanda Okereke and other distinguished names in the industry discussed the intersection of African fashion with art, film, music, and technology. This insightful summit set the tone for the rest of the event, with a vibrant exchange of ideas among some of the brightest minds on the continent.

The summit was followed by the Emerging Designers Competition, where 11 young designers showcased their creativity competing for the grand prize.  After a rather intense presentation, Lambert Fashion emerged as the winner, securing an all-expenses-paid trip to showcase at Africa Fashion Week London 2025, and the prestigious Torrista by Sterling Bank cash prize.

Day 2 saw a lively exhibition featuring some of the best African fashion brands, with attendees traveling from all over Nigeria to shop luxurious, handcrafted pieces that exemplify the essence of African design. The evening runway show was a spectacular display of creativity, with collections from House of Zaheer n Zaheer, Udo Lagos, Tyana’s Couture, Ranti Exclusive, Degeorge Couture, Hauwa De Zuzu, and Ehi Woman captivating the audience.

The final day of the event was nothing short of extraordinary, blending culture and fashion in a way that left a lasting impression. Guests graced the red carpet, which was hosted by Oluwaseyi Ajadi, showcasing elegance and style as they arrived. Hosted by Wanni x Handi, the evening fused tradition and heritage, with an electrifying showcase by the designers. The dramatic appearance of the Igunnuko masquerade brought an awe-inspiring cultural element to the runway, while a captivating performance by Ashley Stephanie added a global flair to the evening.

Celebrity appearances took center stage, with stars like Saga Adeolu, Seyi Awolowo, Tosin Ajibade, Ibrahim Chatta, and Tosin Adeyemi walking the runway in designs by Ejiro Amos Tafiri and Trish O Couture. The evening reached its climax with the highly anticipated High Chiefs Catwalk, led by Osi Apagun Lai Labode, bringing unparalleled energy to the room and showcasing Nigeria’s influential cultural leaders adorned in regal fashion.
