Lagos Government Announces 25% Discount for Train Service

The Lagos State Government has announced a 25% fare discount for commuters using the Lagos Rail Mass Transit Blue Line during off-peak hours, specifically between 10 am and 4 pm.

This initiative, set to begin on Monday, August 12, 2024, aims to encourage travel during less busy periods, making transportation more affordable and efficient for residents.

In addition to the fare reduction, the government is increasing the number of daily trips on the Blue Line from 54 to 72.

This change will improve service frequency, with trains now available every 18 minutes in both directions between Marina and Mile 2, significantly reducing travel time from 25 minutes to approximately 18 minutes.

These updates are part of ongoing efforts by the Lagos Metropolitan Area Transport Authority (LAMATA) to enhance the commuter experience and boost the usage of the Blue Line, which has transported nearly two million passengers since its launch on September 4, 2023.

The new schedules are accessible on the LAMATA website, at stations, and across social media platforms.
