WhatsApp is rolling out a fresh update for its mobile apps, bringing a sleeker design and introducing a new, ”darker dark mode”. The messaging giant shared that while it has been focused on enhancing the app’s functionality over the years, it acknowledges the need for its design to evolve too.
In the quest for a new color scheme, WhatsApp carefully considered over 35 different colors, opting for deeper tones to ease eye strain during low-light usage. Dark mode enthusiasts will be pleased to know that the already popular feature is now even darker, enhancing message readability.
Android users will welcome the addition of a native bottom navigation bar, a feature already familiar to iOS users, facilitating quicker access to chats, updates, communities, and calls. Meanwhile, iOS users will enjoy a revamped attachment layout, with an expandable tray replacing the previous full-screen menu for easier media, polls, and document sharing.
Furthermore, WhatsApp is refreshing its icons with a rounded, outlined style, and updating the default chat background for a more contemporary feel. These changes collectively represent WhatsApp’s commitment to enhancing user experience and staying ahead in the ever-evolving messaging landscape
